The construction of a compsand is really quite simple.
So much so, that we are surprised some of the bigger board manufactures get theirs built in ASIA.

Compsand thinks that's pretty lame, and it shows just how far the big guys are lagging behind us backyarders in both understanding and building techniques. But not in search of profits!

Basically its a comp(composite) and a sand(sandwhich).
So we make a sandwhich using a light core and tight strong skins, and some glass and environmentally friendly epoxy resin in between.
All clamped together using a vacuum bag.
A high density skin material such as balsa wood or corecell etc is used to achieve light weights and great strength.

A key ingredient to compsand boards that gives not only a performance edge, but a very real durability advantage, is the solid wood or high density foam rails. Solid wood rails weights the perimeter and gives good drive off the rail.
It also prevents the board from twisting and allows for a nice even flex throughout the board giving it a fresh PU/PE board feeling (only better)

They can be built for strength and/or performance or anything else in between.
Balsa skinned boards are bordering on being a carbon neutral product.
This is a great advantage in our troubled times of global warming and irregular weather patterns.
We want the breaks to stay exactly how they are, and not be affected by rising sea levels.

The boards can be put together in many different ways, and new boundaries can be pushed.
How does a 1 inch thick tow board sound? Or a concave deck? Or flex control?
